Amber Divide captures the meeting of elemental forces — molten glass, oxidised metal, and human craftsmanship — in one sculptural form. Hand-cast by Willoughton Glass in collaboration with Village Ceramics & Crafts, this piece radiates the quiet intensity of heat transformed into structure.

The amber glass has been meticulously cold-worked with diamond saws and grinders, creating the distinctive striated texture along its top edge. The oxidised iron patina applied to the side under-surfaces introduces a tactile contrast — a subtle nod to the materials’ shared origins in fire and earth. Together, they evoke the sense of geological layering or a sun-baked ridge caught between decay and brilliance.

When placed near natural light, the glass glows with deep tones of amber and burnt sienna, while the patinated metal glints softly, grounding the piece with a sense of permanence. Elegant and architectural, Amber Divide is a modern artefact — poised between nature and industry.
